The problem
A new hydrogen compressor needed 320 valve bodies with intersecting ports and sealing faces that could not leak at 7,000 psi.
What we did
We machined the bodies on our horizontal mills with a pallet system, so one fixture carried the part through every face. Sealing faces were finished last and each body was pressure tested with helium.
The result
Every body passed test the first time and the customer moved the part to a yearly blanket order.
